Final stop off in Lithuania prior to crossing the border into Poland.

Augustow is the first port of call in Poland. A lake and network of locks. The guesthouse pictured has one kettle, oddly, but it is next to the water and has smoking ovens for tender morsels.

When people have had enough of viewing my bum on a bike I’ll work out how to change the angle on the drone. Keep your cards and letters coming in!

The bike routing app is taking me off into corn fields and back-roads. Mostly flat so lots of scope to meander through a patchwork of fields and less-trafficked tracks.

Lunch on the road is a bit of a treat this day with blueberry and cream buns and fresh orange juice.

Having skirted past Warsaw, Krakow is the major city stop over for the Poland leg of the trip. Magnificent old town central area and the place is absolutely bursting at the seams with tourists.

Arriving at the gates of the old town marks a bit of a milestone. There is only about 140km to the southern border so that is Poland pretty well sorted.

Located a place called ‘Hardcore Tattoos’. What a wonderful name for an establishment. One day I might summon the courage to get a tattoo of my bicycling adventures.

The Auschwitz gas chamber and crematorium was situated approximately 100 metres away from the camp commander (Rudolf Höss) family home. He was hanged right there as well after the camp was liberated by the Soviet army.
